Microsoft erweitert SkyDrive um ODF Unterstützung, URL-Shortener und 300 MB Upload

Während sich die Gerüchte um Googles neuen Cloud Storage Google Drive häufen, ist Microsoft bestrebt, sein SkyDrive mit weiteren Funktionen zu erweitern.

Microsoft erweitert SkyDrive um ODF Unterstützung, URL-Shortener und 300 MB Upload

Nach Informationen eines Tweets des Microsoft SkyDrive Team wird SkyDrive eine Reihe neuer Funktionen erhalten. Dazu gehört die Unterstützung des Open Document Formats wie .odt, .odp und .ods sowie die Möglichkeit seine Dokumente auf Twitter zu teilen. Hinzu kommen der Browser-Upload von Dateien bis zu einer Größe von 300 MB und einen URL-Shortener (sdrv.ms), mit dem Windows Phone Bilder auf Twitter geteilt werden können.

Zudem wird Microsoft mit dem kommenden Release SkyDrive und die Live Mesh Services miteinander kombinieren. Bei Live Mesh handelt es sich um einen Sychronisations-Service, quasi die Microsoft Variante von Dropbox, welcher bereits im Jahr 2008 vorgestellt wurde. Darüber hatte das SkyDrive Team im Februar auf dem Windows 8 Blog angekündigt, SkyDrive und Windows 8 stärker zu integrieren, um den Cloud Zugriff weiter zu forcieren.
