Google erhöht die Sicherheit für seine Cloud Developer Services

Google hat die Sicherheit seiner Cloud Services speziell für Entwickler noch einmal erhöht. So können Services wie Cloud Storage nun mit Anwendungen über Zertifikats-basierte Dienste kommunizieren.

Statt mit Shared Keys und Passwörtern zu arbeiten, wird mit Zertifikaten die Authentifizierung deutlich erhöht, da diese nicht von Menschen lesbar und zu erraten sind, schreibt Justin Smith in einem Blogbeitrag.

Zu den Google Services, die diese neue Authentifizierungsmechanismen nutzen gehören Google Cloud Storage, Google Prediction API, Google URL Shortener, Google OAuth 2.0 Authorization Server, Google APIs Console und Google APIs Client Libraries for Python, Java und PHP.

Google ist bereits dabei, weitere APIs und Client Libraries mit dem Mechanismus zu erweitern. Die Funktion ist als ein OAuth 2.0 Flow implementiert und entspricht dem Entwurf 25 der OAuth-2.0-Spezifikation.
